What it is

SMS handling lets motel4 follow up phone calls with a text message containing the key information discussed. When a guest calls asking for directions, they get a text with the address and landmarks. When they ask for a lockbox code, it arrives by SMS for easy reference. No more "I forgot what they told me" callbacks.

The AI answers their question verbally — directions, check-in details, lockbox codes, anything in your property context.

AI offers to text the info

"Would you like me to text you the directions?" Most callers say yes — especially for codes and addresses they'll need later.

Does SMS cost extra?
SMS is included in all motel4 plans at no additional cost. Standard messaging rates may apply to the recipient depending on their carrier.
Can I control what gets texted?
Yes. You configure which information is eligible for SMS follow-up. If you don't want lockbox codes sent via text, disable that option. Directions and general check-in times are always safe defaults.
What if the caller doesn't want a text?
The AI always asks before sending. If the caller declines or doesn't provide a mobile number, no text is sent. It's opt-in per call.
Can I send bulk texts to all arriving guests?
motel4's SMS is designed for post-call follow-up, not marketing blasts. For proactive guest communication, you'd use a dedicated messaging platform alongside motel4.
